Splendor
in the Glass: A Brief Memoir of the Lighter Side of Life by Jack Pancaldo
Jack Pancaldo is the father of Jack Grace and is the man who taught Jack everything he knows about drinking. The martini on the cover is kind of a dead giveaway, no? Jack has reviewed his dad's book, and here is what he has to say:
My dad is funny, charming and a great person to be around. Somehow he actually managed to translate all this into a book. I had no idea he was writing it. He's not a big literary guy. In fact the book jokes on the back that he is the first person to write a book without actually reading one, but his batting average as a writer right now is 1000. I have a hunch he will retire his literary career with that average too. We joke that my dad basically, ugh, crapped out a book, sent it out, and it was published immediately. Quite the tale to all the unpublished out there. The publishers said," We get mediocre Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Bukowski wanna be's all the time. This book is something that is different, and we don't get any submissions like this."
Well I am quite proud of this book and think it makes a fine holiday gift for the problematic good time drinker in all of us.
Congrats Dad. You made a your Italian son proud.
Jack Pancaldo also makes really amazing baked clams. Just thought you should know...his talents are many. (— Ed)
